Protecting Jet Airways staff: Shiv Sena union threatens to hit airport operations

MUMBAI: Demanding that the interests of employees of troubled carrier Jet AirwaysNSE -3.11 % be protected, Bhartiya Kamgar Sena, the labour union of Shiv Sena, on Monday threatened to bring services at the Mumbai international and domestic airports to halt if no resolution is reached by May 10.

“We have the strength to close the Sahar (Chhatrapati Shivaji International) airport and the domestic airport,” said Suryakant Mahadik, president of Bhartiya Kamgar Sena. The union has memberships from airport ground staff, engineers, baggage loaders, and security personnel amongst others, he said.
