Private coal miners could get the chance to sell their produce in open market

KOLKATA: The Centre will allow private coal block operators to sell more than 25% of their production in the open market in subsequent rounds of auctions if its experience from the current round is satisfactory, coal secretary Sumanta Chaudhuri said.

“If block operators under the current round of auction fares well in terms of achieving milestones, operationalise their blocks and reaching their peak rated capacity, the Centre may allow more than 25% of production to be sold in the open market in subsequent rounds of coal block auctions,” Chaudhuri said.
