Power woes hit sales of frozen foods, medicines

India’s worst power shortage in over six years is leading to loss of sales momentum of summer products such as ice-creams, soft drinks and frozen foods, and medicines in some cases over the past one week, as small to mid-sized retailers are refusing to stock large inventories of frozen or cold products as they don’t have reserves of power back-ups amid long hours of power cuts, executives said.
