Power tariff hike: BJP gheraoes OERC office
Bhubaneswar district BJP members held a demonstration in front of the Odisha Electricity Regulatory Commission (OERC) here on Tuesday protesting the power tariff hike.
The tariff hike is a burden on the people of the State amid the Covid-19 pandemic that has broken their financial backbone. In the time of crisis, the State Government neglecting the interest of people has hiked the power tariff by 30 paise per unit. This is highly undemocratic and anti-people, said BJP Bhubaneswar district president Babu Singh.
If the Government doesn’t withdraw the power tariff hike, the BJP would hold demonstrations before the electricity department eight sub-divisions, Singh added.
