Power plants imported 47% less coal in April-August

Indian power plants imported 47% less coal during April-August this year compared to the period last year due to high prices of the fuel in international markets. During FY 2021-22 upto August 21, the imports of non coking coal used mainly in the power sector decreased to 15.24 MT from 28.69 MT during the same period of FY 2019-20, an official statement said.
