Power outages: Officials pass the buck, blame trees & wind
HYDERABAD: While the government is proud of its efforts to improve power generation and supply in the state but the current monsoon has seen even moderate rain disrupt power supply across localities. Locals across the city have complained that during showers, especially during evenings, several colonies plunge into darkness and officials take several hours to restore supply.
On May 16, as many as 230 feeders tripped and several areas witnessed power outages. Similarly, on June 27, supply was interrupted in 131 feeders after a shower in the city. The Telangana State Southern Power Distribution Company Limited (TSSPDCL) had spent about ?300 crore on improving power infrastructure over the years under Centre’s Integrated Power Development Scheme (IPDS) by constructing new substations, adding new lines and transformers. But consumers say relief from power cuts, especially during the rainy season, is still a far cry.
“When it rains and power goes off, the fuse call offices and officers don’t respond to calls. The consumers are left in the dark over when power will be restored.
