Power ministry to ease 22 compliances this year

NEW DELHI: The power ministry has drawn up a plan to reduce compliances for industry and consumers in two phases, the first of which will address 22 “burdensome compliances” norms, the ministry said in a statement on Friday.
The ministry has so far eased compliance norms for 79 items affecting industry and consumers. This has been done as part of an initiative launched in January 20201 by the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT).
DPIIT had launched a regulatory compliance portal, which acts as a bridge between citizens, industries, and the government, for reducing the burden of regulatory compliances.
Power minister RK Singh recently reviewed the ministry’s action plan for 2022 and its sub-nodal organisations: Bureau of Energy Efficiency, central transmission utility (CTU), grid operator POSOCO, Central Electricity Authority and Central Electricity Regulatory Commission.
