Power ministry ends permanent representation of Punjab, Haryana on Bhakra Beas Board

The Union Power Ministry has made an amendment to the rules governing the appointment of Member Power and Member Irrigation on Bhakra Beas Management Board (BBMB) from Punjab and Haryana, respectively, thereby removing the stipulation that these two appointments need to be filled from the two states only.

It is learnt that the amendment to the Bhakra Beas Management Rules, 1974 has been carried out by the Ministry of Power and notified on February 23 whereby the two appointments can now be filled by officers from either of the states and needn’t necessarily be from Punjab or Haryana.

Speaking to The Indian Express, Harminder Singh Chugh, Member (Power), BBMB, confirmed the development.
