Power demand spikes to all-time high of 207 GW

New Delhi: India’s power demand hit an all-time high on Friday, sending many states scrambling for electricity to meet unprecedented demand as large parts of the country sweltered under heatwave conditions.

The union power ministry on Friday directed the Central Electricity Regulatory Commission (CERC) to lower the price ceiling in all markets of the country’s two power exchanges. The directive has been issued by invoking Section 107
