Power demand registers 3.5% growth in January

KOLKATA: In January 2020, all-India energy demand increased 3.5% year-on-year to 105.3 billion units, after declining for five consecutive months on a y-o-y basis according to India Ratings & Research.

All-India energy supply also increased 3.6% y-o-y in January 2020, resulting in the energy deficit remaining at 0.5% (January 2019: 0.5%). Energy demand for the period April 2019-January 2020 was higher by 1.33% compared to April 2018-January 2019.
