Power consumption down 0.8% in November
New Delhi: India’s power consumption in November fell about 0.8% year-on-year to 123.4 million units. Though the fall is marginal, it is the second consecutive month to see a decrease in consumption.
October saw a 6% on-year decline in power demand, while September had witnessed a 3.2% rise. The lower demand is majorly because of favourable weather conditions that have led to a decline in cooling demand, according to industry experts.
Even in November, the climatic conditions were impacted by a storm in the eastern region and rainfall in the southern states as well as in Maharashtra and Gujarat, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD).
