Power Company recovers Rs 2 cr from defaulters

Chhattisgarh State Power Company has urged the consumers of both rural and urban areas to refrain from power theft and taking illegal connection and instead should take benefit of power tariff half scheme offered by the state government through valid power connection.

As per the drive against non-payment of bills, illegal connection and power theft, around 3300 connections were disconnected and Rs 2 crore recovered for restoring connections.

Power Companies chairman Shailendra Shukla urged the consumers not to indulge in illegal activities as it will lead to legal action, fines, possibility of accident, even imprisonment and insult.

The company teams are holding regular surprise inspection looking for hooking, bypassing installed meters or illegal connection. It invites action under Electricity Act 2003 sections 135 to 138 where FIR would be registered and case placed before a special court.
