Potholes on 1,332-km roads in Bengaluru to be fixed in 2 weeks: Minister R Ashoka

BENGALURU: Pothole filling on 1,332-km of major roads in Bengaluru will be completed by September 20 and on 85,791-km of ward-level stretches by September 30, said revenue minister R Ashoka on Monday.

The new deadline comes in the backdrop of rising public protests against broken roads across the city. After attending a meeting with BBMP officials, Ashoka said the city has been experiencing moderate to heavy showers over the past couple of weeks and this has worsened the pothole issue.

BS Prahlad, chief engineer of the road infrastructure division, BBMP, said: “It is an ongoing process and now we’ll expedite the work. We’ll upload details of the everyday work—how many loads of asphalt were produced and how much of it used etc.,—on the official website.”
