Poor road construction in Umarkote

The pathetic condition of Umarkote-Raighar State Highway is a common sight. There are allegations that the PWD contractors engaged in the work openly flout road construction norms and do not maintain quality of the work.

A large portion of the roads has been constructed in a manner suitable to the contractors and not according to the specifications laid down by the PWD, alleged the locals.

The quality was compromised to such an extent that the new road was no better than its earlier shape. Earlier, some villagers made a complaint to the department authorities and also to the vigilance, but no action has been taken yet, alleged locals.
