Plan in works to revive gas-based stressed power plants

The government is seeking to revive stressed gas-based power plants set up at Rs 1 lakh crore investment by exploring inclusion of the fuel under the goods and services tax (GST) and working out suitable model contracts for supply of future gas.

The oil NSE -1.92 % and power ministries have formed a joint working group to design “workable contracts” for future gas, said a senior government official.
