PIL seeks power tariff hike rollback

Even as the State Government last week indicated that it would approach the Odisha Electricity Regulatory Commission (OERC) to reconsider its decision to hike power tariff, a Public Interest

Litigation (PIL) writ petition was filed in the Orissa High Court onMonday seeking judicial intervention for the rollback of the proposedhike.

Ganjam-based Bharatiya Bikash Parishad has approached the High Court through its president Surendra Panigrahi.

Stating that the hike in power tariff now would only add more trouble for the poor people as their economic situation has worsened during the pandemic-related lockdown and shutdown last year.
