Petrol, diesel sales fall with the arrival of monsoon

Sales of petrol and diesel decreased in the first half of June as the advent of the monsoon lowered demand in the agricultural sector and decreased vehicular travel, according to preliminary industry data. Demand for diesel, which makes up nearly two-fifths of the total fuel demand in the nation, decreased 6.7 per cent to 3.43 million tonne from June 1–15 as compared to the same period a year ago.
