Petrol, diesel on fire, cross Rs 80 and Rs 70 a litre in Maharashtra

MUMBAI: Price of petrol crossed Rs the Rs 80-mark in 15 districts of the state on Sunday after hovering between Rs 75 and Rs 77 for at least four months. The price of petrol in Mumbai was Rs 79.29 a litre on Sunday-a few paise short of Rs 80. Also, price of diesel went over Rs 70 a litre in 12 districts, including Mumbai and Thane.

Parbhani district has the highest petrol rate in the country at Rs 81.23 a litre followed by Nanded at Rs 81.10. The highest rate of diesel in the state was at Amravati at Rs 71.28, sources said. The rise in prices comes in the wake of crude oil prices soaring. In Delhi, petrol was priced at Rs 73.62 a litre on Sunday while it was Rs 76.52 in Chennai, Rs 76.14 in Bangalore and Rs 78.2 Hyderabad.

In Mumbai, price of diesel on Sunday rose to Rs 70.01 per litre while that of diesel in Thane and Navi Mumbai stood at Rs 70.14 .
