On January 16, 2022 the CBI has arrested GAIL (India) Ltd’s director (marketing) ES Ranganathan in a bribery scandal involving sale of petrochemicals manufactured by GAIL at a discount. The CBI conducted searches at the premises of the accused in Delhi, Noida, Gurugram, Panchkula and Karnal, among others and recovered Rs 1.29 crore in cash, gold jewellery and other valuables from the premises of Mr Ranganathan.
