Permanent bridge soon to link 22 villages near Nepal

PILIBHIT: In a first since Independence, 22 remote villages along the India-Nepal border in UP’s Pilibhit district will benefit from a permanent bridge to be is built over the Sharda river. For decades, they’ve lived in hardship due to lack of proper connectivity.

According to officials, a plan has been sanctioned by state authorities to build a concrete bridge – 3.2km long and 7.5m wide. It is estimated to cost Rs 314 crore and may be ready in a couple of years.

Commissioner of Bareilly division, Saumya Agarwal, said, “It will benefit farmers and armed forces to patrol the border areas.”
