Passenger trains can run on DFC network during exigencies

The Railway Board has decided to allow trains carrying passengers on the Dedicated Freight Corridor (DFC) network during exigencies. An order for the same was issued earlier this week.

An order from the Railway Board said that this has been permitted subject of fulfilment of Rule 24 under the Railways Opening for Public Carriage of Passenger Rule, 2000. This rule specifies the terms under which a train can be diverted is there is an accident on the railway line.
