Partial solar eclipse offers Hyderabad stargazers special celestial treat

HYDERABAD: Stargazers and astronomy enthusiasts with children in tow headed to the Birla Planetarium in the city on Tuesday evening to witness the rare partial solar eclipse.

A partial eclipse occurs when the sun and the moon are not exactly in line with the Earth and the moon only partially obscures the sun.

“In partial solar eclipse, the sun appears to have a small dark shadow on the right side as only 18.7% of it will be in shadow,” said a Birla Planetarium official.
