Paradip Refinery capacity to be expanded

Union Petroleum Secretary Tarun Kapoor, who is on a visit to Odisha to meet the stakeholders and review the oil and gas PSUs to get status of activities, upcoming projects by oil and gas industries in the State, met Chief Secretary Suresh Chandra Mahapatra on Monday and discussed various issues.

The issues included the expansion of the IOCL’s Paradip Refinery capacity expansion from the present 15 million MT per annum to 25 MMT. Kapoor said Chandikhol is going to get the country’s largest strategic petroleum reserve at a cost of Rs 10,000 crore. The reserve would be an underground facility spanned across 400 acre of land which the State Government would provide.
