Pani Bachao, Paisa Kamao — that is what the Punjab State Power Corporation Limited (PSPCL) has proposed as a scheme for farmers ahead of the Kharif season to get direct incentives in their bank accounts.
The PSPCL had officially mooted the scheme during the Dooji (second) Sarkar–Kisan Milni which was held at Punjab Agricultural University, Ludhiana, last Thursday.
Prodded about more details, a PSPCL official said that the scheme was not new and had been first conceptualised in 2018, but didn’t find many takers then due to low publicity. They have now just been pushing the scheme in order to make it more popular.
