Pandemic, land acquisition delay 29 NH projects in Punjab

As many as 29 national highway (NH) projects in Punjab are delayed due to various reasons such as the Covid pandemic, delay in land acquisition, utility shifting and forest clearances. The delay varies from project to project and ranges from 10 days to 90 months, according to information provided by Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari in the Lok Sabha recently while responding to a question related to

At present, 33 national highway projects in Punjab are under construction. The total length of national highways under execution is 580.49 km and the total project cost is around Rs 5,573.60 crore. Also, of the total 33 projects, eight projects have been awarded to executors. However, the construction is yet to start. — TNS
