Paddy season takes Hry’s power demand past 10,000 MW

Kurukshetra: Amid the paddy transplanting season, power demand in Haryana crossed 10,000 MW on Tuesday.
All-India Power Engineers Federation (AIPEF) spokesman V K Gupta said the power demand in the state was recorded at 10,034 MW on Tuesday, which stood at 8,839 MW on Sunday.

He said two thermal units each at Yamunanagar and Panipat were operational, while one unit of 1,200 MW Khedar thermal plant was generating power. The AIPEF spokesman said at Jhajjar, both units of CLP are generating power and at Adani, only one unit is supplying power to the state.

Gupta said supply from the northern grid was 1,520 lakh units. But with the rise in power demand, the number of power outages in Haryana is increasing, particularly in rural belts and small towns, he added.
