Opposition pulls up govt for delay in road projects

The Opposition leaders on the third day of winter session of Chhattisgarh Assembly raised questions over the delay and quality of road construction even after budgetary sanction was given several times for repair and renovation works.

During Question Hour, Janjgir BJP MLA Narayan Chandel raised issue of delay in construction of NH49 and sought to know whether any action had been taken against the contractor for delay.

He said the department is unable to maintain quality of construction as there is no technical head for inspection. PWD minister Tamradhwaj Sahu, replying to the question, said first land acquisition was announced but as it was found that a PWD road already existed there, the plan was dropped.
