Operate only 50% of approved flights for 8 weeks: DGCA to SpiceJet

India’s aviation regulator on Wednesday ordered SpiceJet NSE -5.22 % to operate only 50% of its flights that have been approved for the summer schedule, following numerous flight safety incidents and a show-cause notice.

SpiceJet quickly reacted saying it has already been running half its approved capacity, in effect meaning the regulator’s restrictive mandate would have no impact on its operations.
