Only 55 ‘very poor’ or ‘poor’ roads require recarpeting, not all: Figures

As many as 55 roads in Chandigarh are either in a “very poor” condition or “poor” condition that require recarpeting. And all these were constructed in a five-year period, reveals data compiled by the engineering wing on orders of Mayor Anup Gupta.

This data will be placed before the General House meeting of the Municipal Corporation on Tuesday. It is for the first time that such data has been prepared and a related agenda item is being brought in the House. The mayor had asked the engineers to inspect each road. Until now, the engineering wing would “mindlessly” recarpet all the roads that would complete their five-year tenure, irrespective of their condition — whether good or bad.
