ONGC staff body wants fewer workers on offshore platforms as COVID infections rise

ONGC employees’ associations, upset at the death of an employee due to Covid-19 and rising infections, have demanded the staff strength at offshore platforms be cut and a detailed guideline strictly followed to contain the spread of the virus.

ONGC’s offshore rigs have seen a proliferation of coronavirus cases in the last one month with 25 employees deployed on rig Sagar Jyoti and 29 on rig Sagar Kiran testing positive. One Covid positive employee died on June 9.
