ONGC abduction case: ULFA-I role confirmed, 14 held, says police

The Assam Police has said that the banned United Liberation Front of Asom-Independent (ULFA-I) is involved in the abduction of three employees of the Oil and Natural Gas Corporation Limited (ONGC) from a rig site in Lakuwa field of Sivasagar district in the early hours of Wednesday.

In a statement on Friday evening, Assam Police said that it had received specific information that the kidnapping was done by the ULFA (I). It added that it was done under “the command of SS Maj Ganesh Lahon @ Pruna Lahon and his accomplices namely, Aidyaman Asom @ Moniram Borgohain and Pradip Gogoi @ Akon.”
