NTPC’s power generation grows 4.3% in FY21
NTPC Ltd generated 270.9 billion units (BU) of electricity in FY21, up 4.3% compared to FY20, the state-run firm said in a statement on Thursday.
The increase in power generation assumes significance as it is a key indicator of India’s economic recovery following the massive covid-led disruptions. Energy consumption, especially of electricity and refinery products, is usually linked to overall demand in the economy.
“NTPC, India’s largest power generating company, recorded its highest ever group generation of 314 BU in FY21, a growth of 8.2% compared to the previous year. On a standalone basis, NTPC generated 270.9 BU in FY21, an increase of 4.3% over FY20,” it added.
