NTPC to blend green hydrogen in PNG network of Gujarat Gas
AHMEDABAD: The National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC) on Tuesday announced it has inked a pact with city gas distribution company, Gujarat Gas Limited, to be able to blend green hydrogen in piped natural gas (PNG) network at NTPC Kawas located in Hazira, near Surat. A formal agreement was signed on Tuesday between Mohan Bhargava, CEO, NTPC Renewable Energy Limited (REL) and Sanjeev Kumar, MD, Gujarat Gas Limited.
Green hydrogen will be produced using electricity from the existing 1 MW floating solar project of NTPC Kawas. This will be blended with PNG in a predetermined proportion and will be used for cooking applications in NTPC Kawas Township.
Initially, the proportion of hydrogen blending in the PNG shall be around 5% and after successful completion it shall be further increased.
