NTPC registers 40% increase in profit

NTPC, the largest state owned power generator posted an increase of 40 per cent in its profit during quarter ending September 2015.

The unaudited profit after tax (PAT) for the Q2 of FY 2015-16 was Rs 2,898.28 crore as compared to the Rs 2,071.63 crore during same period last fiscal.

The unaudited total income for the Q2 FY 2015-16 was Rs 18,173.90 crore as against the unaudited total income of Rs 17,267.32 crore in the Q2 FY 2014-15, registering an increase of about 5 per cent.

NTPC currently has installed capacity of 45548 Mw. The gross power generation for Q2 FY16 increased to 60.159 Billion Units from 55.448 Billion Units in the corresponding period of previous year, registering an increase of over 8 per cent.

The company said, on half-year basis, the unaudited total income was Rs 35,497.20 crore for H1 FY 2015-16 as against Rs 36,136.63 crore during corresponding period in previous year.

For H1 FY 2015-16, unaudited PAT increased by18 per cent to Rs 5,033.63 crore over the same period last fiscal.
