NTPC generation up 13% in July

NEW DELHI: India’s largest generation utility NTPC and its group arms produced 13% more power in July than the preceding month, indicating an uptick in demand on the back of revival in economic activities.
NTPC, its subsidiaries and joint ventures produced 26.73 bu (billion units) in July against 23.59 billion units in June, the company said on Tuesday.
Power consumption is a key measure of industrial and economic activities.
Generation at the company’s coal-fired stations grew 5.6% in July at 21.89 bu against 20.74 bu in July 2019. The 2,600-MW Korba station in Chhattisgarh notched up more than 100% capacity utilisation in the month under review.
