NTPC bags second overseas contract as solar park anchor

NEW DELHI: India’s coal-burning giant, NTPC, is taking the green highway to spread its wings abroad by bagging a contract to anchor a 500 MW solar park in the Republic of Mali under an initiative of International Solar Alliance.
Ambassador of Mali Sekou Kasse handed over the letter awarding the project management consultancy contract to NTPC chairman Gurdeep Singh on Wednesday in the presence of power minister R K Singh, who chairs ISA, and its director-general Upendra Tripathi. This is the second overseas consultancy project for NTPC under an ISA initiative to help the equatorial band of sunshine countries expand solar energy capacities. ISA had last year endorsed NTPC as a solar energy consultant for member countries owing to its experience in setting up solar power projects.
