NTPC agrees to give addl power to KLIP
Hyderabad: With the power demand expected to increase for lift irrigation projects, especially Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Project (KLIP), the Telangana government has urged National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC) to provide additional power from next March. Responding positively, CMD of NTPC has agreed to supply 1,500 MW of solar power to Telengana at a rate of less than Rs 3 per unit.
Chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao has earlier directed chairman and managing director of TSGenco and Transco to request NTPC to supply additional power of 1,500 MW to Telangana in view of the lift irrigation loads of Kaleshwaram project from 2020.
Officials said CMD of Genco and Transco D Prabhakar Rao, who attended the southern region customer meet of NTPC in Goa on Saturday, said NTPC had agreed to supply additional power of 1,500 MW to Telangana from March 2020.
