Now, 10 days’ home isolation for asymptomatic Covid positive aircrew: DGCA

NEW DELHI: Asymptomatic Covid positive pilots and cabin crew will now undergo home isolation of 10 days and then be declared “fit for unrestricted flying” if their clinical parameters are normal. The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has revised the policy for Covid positive cases based on current global practices.
Now aircrew who test positive with mild symptoms and have been recommended home isolation, “will continue home isolation and will stand discharged after 10 days of symptom onset and no fever for three days. There is no need for testing after the home isolation period is over,” a circular issued by DGCA last Friday says.
If the isolation period of the aircrew who test positive with mild symptoms is more than 14 days, then they will be examined by DGCA empanelled doctors. Once declared “fit for flying”, they can commence flying only after DGCA medical assessment is issued.
