The Paradip Refinery of the Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL) has issued a clarification regarding the news item “Oily layer in sea triggers concern” published in The Pioneer on Sunday.
The IOCL stated that there is no waste oil discharge from the refinery to the sea. The Paradip Refinery adheres to the best pollution control measures as per the MINAS specifications of the Central and State Pollution Control Boards.
Samples of the sea water and storm water pond were jointly taken by refinery and State Pollution Control Board officials and the results for all the required parameters were found to be normal and well within the prescribed limits, the IOCL said.
