Niti Aayog to estimate gap between states’ renewable capacity, future needs

The Niti Aayog is working to project the potential gap between states’ renewable energy capacities and their future electricity needs under existing purchase obligations to help them plan their power resources, a senior government official said.

“We have assessed the potential of these states related to solar, wind or hydro to figure if they will be able to meet renewable purchase obligations (RPOs) with their own resources or depend on other states for it,” the official told ET.
