NHAI in fast lane: Awards 40 projects covering 1,330 km at Rs 47,000 crore
Nearly 60 per cent of the projects awarded by the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) in the first six months of the current financial year (2020-21, or FY21) are government-funded ones.
According to the NHAI, 40 projects — spanning 1,330 km and worth Rs 47,289 crore — were awarded in the April-September period, despite challenges triggered by the Covid-19 pandemic.
“The projects awarded so far in the first half of the current financial year are 1.6 times higher of the 828 km awarded in FY19-20 and 3.5 times higher of the 373 km awarded in FY18-19 during the same period,” said the NHAI in a statement.
