NHAI begins broadening work on Delhi-Haridwar Highway
In a major relief for those commuting on Delhi- Haridwar National Highway, the National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) has initiated the process of broadening the all important road. The authority has started the tender process for highway broadening. The NHAI claim that the work would be completed before the Kumbh. NHAI has invited tenders for the work and the NHAI maintains that the construction work would be completed within a year and half.
The work of broadening the Haridwar Delhi National Highway and construction of bypass is going on at snail’s pace from the year 2010. The company which earlier was provided with the task was removed unsatisfactory work done by it. The work was withheld further on account of Lok Sabha polls and imposition of model code of conduct. Now finally the tender process has started and it is believed that the work of construction of flyovers near Shankaracharya Chowk and Motichoor will get completed in three months. Three different companies will be working on the project in the predefined area due to which they are expected to complete the project on time.
One company would construct Manglaur byepass, another would construct road till Roorkee bye-pass and third company shall be working on the area towards Roorkee.
