New electricity tariff rules to make bills cheaper during solar hours

The Centre on Friday passed an amendment to the Electricity (Rights of Consumers) Rules, 2020, to make two significant changes to the current power system. These changes are related to the implementation of the Time of Day (ToD) Tariff system and the rationalisation of smart metering provisions.

In the Time of Day (ToD) Tariff system, rather than being charged the same rate for electricity at all times of the day, the price you pay for electricity will vary according to the time of day.
