New Delhi Railway Station embarks on its revamp journey

NEW DELHI: Northern Railway has set the ball rolling for the redevelopment of New Delhi Railway Station by demolishing staff quarters in Ramnagar Colony. The cleared land will be used for building new railway colonies as per the redevelopment plan.

A senior official of Northern Railway said, “Around 6000 square feet of land at Ramnagar Colony, which had 32 quarters, have been cleared. A high-rise building, which will be of around 25 floors, will be built here. This will create more living spaces. People from different nearby railway colonies and office spaces, which are also going to be demolished as per the redevelopment plan, will be shifted here.”

Some nearby areas that currently house railway colonies and offices, Karnail Singh Stadium and inner roads adjoining Connaught Place will also go under the redevelopment, he added.
