NCR industries not operating on PNG to shut for a week
NEW DELHI: Industries not operating on Piped Natural Gas (PNG) will be shut from Saturday till the end of October, especially in the high-priority areas in Gurugram, Noida and Faridabad, the CPCB-led Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP) task force decided on Thursday.
Earlier, Central Pollution Control Board had identified seven areas in National Capital Region where preventive measures should be taken between October 15 and 31. These are Mayapuri, Wazirpur and Okhla in Delhi; Udyog Vihar in Gurugram; Sahibabad in Ghaziabad and two areas in Faridabad, where the weeklong ban will be implemented. Only power stations will be exempted.

The task force, which will send its recommendations to the Supreme Court-appointed Environment Pollution (Prevention and Control) Authority for implementation, has also suggested a ban on construction activities, hot mix plants and stone crushers between 6pm and 6am as these can generate dust.
