Namma Metro and Bangalore airport sign up to raise funds through innovative financing for 5-km airport section
The Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation (BMRCL) and Bangalore International Airport (BIAL) signed an MoU to forge a unique public private partnership (PPP) to raise funds through innovative financing methods to build the 4.95-km airport section of the ORR-Airport metro at an estimated cost of Rs 800 crore. Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa was present on the occasion as BMRCL managing director Ajay Seth and BIAL chief executive Hari Marar signed the agreement.
This stretch of the metro connectivity to the Kempegowda international airport, which is likely to be commissioned by December 2024, would provide a n efficient mode of transport to residents and business commuters from all parts of the city, the BMRCL said in a press release. The Namma Metro will construct the Airport Metro section, along with civil, electro-mechanical, other associated facilities, works and related assets, while the BIAL will develop, manage and maintain the two metro stations that will be located within the airport boundary.
