Mumbai’s peak power demand tops 3,500 MW
MUMBAI: The peak electricity demand of Mumbai escalated and crossed 3,500 MW as temperatures soared high on Tuesday. The state’s overall demand stood at around 28,000 MW.
Power experts said that the peak demand is set to increase further in the coming weeks. The demand for electricity by BEST in the island city also breached its 800 MW-regular requirement and was at 820 MW on Tuesday.
Power utility firms such as BEST in island city, Tata Power across Mumbai, Adani Electricity in suburbs and MSEDCL across Maharashtra have now switched to SOS mode in case of any emergency to ensure that there is uninterrupted supply and no outages.
