Mumbai Metro to earn Rs 216 cr from naming rights of 5 metro-3 stations

In a novel infrastructure monetisation initiative, the Mumbai Metro Rail Corporation Ltd. (MMRCL) has awarded naming rights for five stations on the Colaba-BKC-SEEPZ Metro-3 line for a whopping Rs.216 crore.

Announcing this, MMRCL’s Managing Director Ashwini Bhide said that the station naming rights contract will last for a period of 5 years starting from the commissioning of the line.

“The total value of station naming rights is Rs. 216 crore cumulatively over 5 years with 5 per cent annual escalation. This will help MMRCL generate non-fare revenue to the tune of Rs 40 crore annually,” Ms Bhide said.

The five stations for which the naming rights have been given are: Bandra Kurla Complex, Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus to Kotak Mahindra Bank; Siddhivinayak Metro Station to ICICI Lombard;
