Mumbai: IndiGo flyers stranded as server fails soon after runway closure

MUMBAI: Thousands of IndiGo passengers had a harrowing time on Monday as the country’s largest airline suffered a network-wide systems failure for close to two hours. It lengthened check-in queues, delayed flights across airports and left many passengers stranded for hours.
In Mumbai, the country’s second busiest airport, the effect was compounded by the eight-hour main runway closure that began as scheduled at 9.30am. “IndiGo systems failure occurred barely a few minutes after work began on the main runway and flight operations were moved to the secondary runway,’’ said an air traffic controller.
“Our systems are down across the network since morning. We are expecting our operations to be impacted across airports,” IndiGo said in a press statement.
