Mumbai: Electricity employees’ unions call for a strike for 72 hours from Thursday; power firms impose MESMA
Mumbai: The Joint Action Committee of electricity employee unions in MSEDCL, Mahagenco, and Mahatransco has called for a strike from October 9 to 11. “All arrangements have been made, and there will be no power interruption,” said a senior MSEDCL spokesperson, adding that the Maharashtra Essential Services Maintenance Act (MESMA) will be imposed on those participating in the agitation.
Sources said that the power companies have taken precautions, including the deployment of contractual workers. However, if the strike continues, it is likely to impact several services of the three power companies—generation, distribution, and transmission.
